I believe that every student, whether they know it or admit it, wants to succeed in school. My approach to coaching a student to better academic success is to tap into that want. By guiding students into talking about school, their fears, their strengths, their habits and their hardships I help craft a goal based plan that improves their grades by improving their executive skills. Academic coaching is not tutoring although there is some academic guidance. The L2L method is to make the student responsible for embracing all the resources provided to them through their school setting, but also self assessing the areas of their academic life that needs more support than that given in a typical school day. With that information, I teach a student how best to meet their academic goals improving their study skills and conquering their procrastination.
